2019 Community Donation: St. Lillian Academy
This year’s recipient of the $10,000 Community Donation given by Charity Ball Association of Baton Rouge is St. Lillian Academy. St. Lillian Academy is a school for children who have communication and learning challenges. The school was founded in 2011 by a group of parents and therapists who for too long had watched parents struggle along the same path, but in isolation. They knew there had to be a better way.
St. Lillian Academy was modeled on the idea of bringing comprehensive services and support to the students where they spend their days learning, rather than bringing students to scattered disconnected services in multiple locations. Their mission is to provide an exceptional education for students who have communication and learning challenges so they have the opportunity to maximize their future and become active members of the Baton Rouge community.
St. Lillian Academy staff and interventionists work from a holistic approach to progress skills in each area of human development: communication, self-management, academic and motor skills. Their programming is making a significant impact on our community by raising expectations and changing outcomes for students. With the experience gained at St. Lillian Academy, children and families make great strides towards a bright future. For more information, visit their website at: stlillian.org.
